DR Congo: The Constitutional Court has two new judges and a new Attorney General



Two new Judges and the Attorney General of this jurisdiction took the oath this Tuesday, February 11, 2025 before the President of the Republic and Supreme Magistrate, in the presence of national Deputies and Senators; as well as several political and judicial figures of the country.
The first to take her oath before the Head of State Félix TSHISEKEDI is Mrs. Marthe ODIO NONDE, appointed judge on the President of the Republic quota who before arriving at the Constitutional Court, she was President of the Council of State.
With her arrival in this jurisdiction, it is appropriate to specify that the Constitutional Court of the DRC now has two female judges.
The second oath is that of Aristide KAHINDO NGURU. This new member of the Constitutional Court, from the Parliament quota, He is a professor of law at Congolese universities.
And finally the third oath is that of the new Attorney General at the Constitutional Court: John Prosper MOKE MAYELE. Before his current appointment, he was Attorney General at the Court of Cassation.
Those sworn in swore to respect the Constitution; and to observe impartiality and keep the secrecy of their deliberations!
The President of the Republic declared that he had taken note of these 3 oaths, to the applause of the audience.
In accordance with the texts of the DRC, the oath-taking marks the entry into office of these two judges and the Attorney General.
It should be noted that the Constitutional Court of the DR Congo was chosen at the last Congress of the CJCA, held in Zimbabwe, as the host country for the 8th Congress of the CJCA in 2026.
