Algeria: Award ceremony for the winner of the "best doctoral thesis" competition
At the headquarters of the Constitutional Court, the Permanent General Secretariat of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions, organized on Monday, December 2, 2024, a ceremony in honor of the winner, Dr. Zohra Kilali of the University of Tlemcen, for her success in the "Best Doctoral Thesis" competition, in its first edition of 2024, on her thesis entitled "The structural role of the constitutional judge." This ceremony was enhanced by the presence of the Honorable Mr. Omar BELHADJ, President of the Constitutional Court of Algeria, the President of the Supreme Court, members of the government and the representative of the Presidency of the Republic.
The other prize winners of the competition are respectively:
- Dr. Ndjodi Ndeunyema, for his thesis "The human right to water under the Namibian Constitution" from Namibia.
- Dr. Cheikh Mbaki Ndiaye, for his thesis "Judicial Protection of the Constitutional Order in Senegal" from Senegal.
- Dr. Mohamed Wabous, for his thesis "Jurisprudence of the Moroccan Constitutional Council", from Morocco.
The doctoral thesis falls within one of the areas of activity of African supreme courts, constitutional courts and constitutional councils, and particularly concerns constitutional justice and its history, political institutions, constitutional law, electoral disputes, the status of members of Parliament and other matters that fall within the activities of African constitutional bodies.
In its first edition of 2024, the "best doctoral thesis" competition aims to support scientific research and encourage African researchers to distinguish themselves through their scientific and authentic influence in research and studies dealing with constitutional and electoral issues on the African continent, and in general all matters falling within the jurisdiction of African Supreme Courts, and Constitutional Courts and Constitutional Councils.
